Woodfired pizza at Casa Ristorante Italiano - Sydney waterfront Italian restaurant

A large Italian wood oven is always glowing in Casa Ristorante Italiano, producing the flame-kissed pizzas that they’re famous for. The pizza menu is predictably delicious, featuring everything from traditionally prepared margaritas and calzones with salami and fresh ricotta cheese to pizzas with generous lashings of truffle and prosciutto. Is this the best pizza in Sydney? We’ll let you be the judge!

As incredible as these pizzas may be, Casa Ristorante Italiano has so much more to offer. Their main menu includes Italian entrees like calamari fritti, prepared with salt and pepper, chilli and lemon, and an antipasto board piled with prosciutto, bresaola, buffalo mozzarella, and sourdough.

Further down the menu you’ll find fresh salads, including a haloumi and quinoa number with cucumber and lemon that is equal parts light and satisfying. Then there’s the pasta. Glorious carb-heavy creations like the penne ragu, which features a famous home-made beef ragu sauce topped with parmesan and basil. For something a little fancy, try the dreamy lobster linguine alle vongole, cooked with clams in butter, chilli and creamy garlic.

Or if you’re not a pasta person, order the secondi (mains) menu which includes a delicious veal scallopini, a slow cooked Milanese lamb shank with Italian spices and a pan seared barramundi with caper jus. If you manage to get through this menu and you’re still hungry, you deserve dolce (dessert), which includes a Nutella pizza and a decadent gelato cannoli.

As well as the main Italian menu, there’s an express lunch menu with simplified versions of the above food at a lower price, a kid’s menu featuring yum stuff like cheese and tomato pizzas and spaghetti with parmesan cheese. There’s even an Italian-inspired breakfast menu featuring smashed avo on toast with dried cherry tomato and a breakfast burger stuffed with crispy parma ham, fried eggs and rocket.

Whatever the time of day, a meal at Casa Ristorante Italiano ranks as one of the best things to do in Sydney for lovers of Italian food and sea views!
