Step into spring at the Chinese Garden of Friendship and immerse yourself in a vibrant celebration of Chinese culture. Try your hand at traditional arts and crafts, from Kung Fu and tea culture to calligraphy, porcelain craft and paper folding, with hands-on experiences for all ages.

As winter comes to an end, welcome the fresh energy of spring with an afternoon celebrating Chinese culture at the Chinese Garden of Friendship.

Activities

  • Lion dance - A Lion Dance performance will commence at 10:30am from the Gurr, the lions will make their way around the garden and interacting with visitors, creating a lively and engaging experience for all.
  • Kung Fu – Learn basic movements, stances and techniques while discovering the spirit and philosophy of traditional Chinese martial arts.

  • Art of Tea – Experience Chinese tea culture through tea displays, brewing demonstrations, tea tasting and traditional serving etiquette. Approx. 20 minutes | Peace Boat Pavilion

  • Rubbing Technique – Create your own artwork using the ancient Chinese technique of transferring patterns and inscriptions onto paper.
    Approx. 15 minutes | Twin Pavilion

  • Blue-and-White Porcelain Craft – Create and decorate your own porcelain-inspired keepsake using traditional Chinese patterns and designs.
    Approx. 20 minutes | Aquatic Pavilion

  • Calligraphy – Learn the basics of traditional Chinese brush writing and create your own personalised bookmark.
    Approx. 10 minutes | Water Pavilion

  • Ou Sculpture – Clay Relief Art – Explore traditional Wenzhou folk art and create a colourful clay relief artwork to take home.
    Approx. 30 minutes | Water Pavilion

  • Etching Art – Discover the beauty of Chinese oracle bone script and create a unique handmade necklace using a traditional character.
    Approx. 30 minutes | Hall of Longevity

  • Paper Folding – Explore the creativity of traditional Chinese paper folding and create your own paper artwork inspired by Chinese culture.
    Approx. 20 minutes | Hall of Longevity

All activities are free drop-in sessions, with no bookings required. Places are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Capacity and session times vary, so please allow extra time for queuing and participation.
