The Big Busk 2026

Catch the next generation of musicians in action at the Sydney Youth Orchestra Big Busk! Enjoy free live performances as talented young musicians transform Darling Harbour into an outdoor concert hall, all while raising funds to support music education across NSW.

On Saturday 19 September, Darling Harbour will come alive with music as the Sydney Youth Orchestra (SYO) takes part in the biggest Big Busk yet.

Joining youth orchestras across Australia, more than 2,000 young musicians will perform throughout five cities, transforming public spaces into vibrant open-air concert halls. Now in its ninth year, the Big Busk showcases the talent, dedication and passion of the next generation of musicians while raising vital funds for music education.

In the lead-up to the event, SYO musicians will be fundraising through MyCause with a goal of raising $50,000 to support young musicians across New South Wales. Donations help fund instruments, sheet music and essential resources that make high-quality music education and training opportunities possible.

As a registered charity, Sydney Youth Orchestra relies on community support to provide exceptional musical experiences for young people. While tuition fees contribute to program costs, donations help fund important investments such as orchestral instruments, sheet music libraries and the resources needed to ensure opportunities remain accessible to talented young musicians, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Come along, enjoy free live performances and support the future of music at the SYO Big Busk.
