Qixi Festival – Love Among the Stars

Have you heard the Chinese legend of the Weaver Girl and the Cowherd? According to the story, the couple were separated by the Jade Emperor, with the “Silver River” – the Milky Way – dividing them. Once a year, a bridge of magpies allows them to reunite, giving rise to the celebration of Qixi, often known as Chinese Valentine’s Day.

But did you know that this ancient love story is also written in the stars?

The Weaver Girl is represented by Vega, while the Cowherd is represented by Altair. These two bright stars appear on opposite sides of the Milky Way and have been associated with the Qixi legend for centuries.
