Myths and History

STAGE 1: HSIE

Introduce students to ancient stories and explore how people use stories, objects and places to understand the past. Through storytelling, movement and exploration activities, students connect The Legend of Chang'e to features of the Chinese Garden of Friendship and discover how stories can help us learn about history and culture.

Garden Explorers

STAGE 2 HSIE

Encourage students to investigate how people use, care for and protect places within the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Through observation, mapping, discussion and reflection activities, students explore how environments are organised and why people share responsibility for caring for places.

Darling Harbour: A Journey Through Time

STAGE 3 HSIE

Students engage in a real-world site study to investigate how this unique urban landscape has changed over time. Through cross-curricular Geography and History inquiry, students explore the Chinese Garden of Friendship and surrounding Darling Harbour precinct, making connections to migration, cultural diversity and sustainability through a range of inquiry-based activities.
