Why Darling Harbour is the home of live music in Sydney

Darling Harbour hosts some of Sydney’s best live gigs - From concerts under the sun and DJs until dawn, to world-class arena acts.
Why Darling Harbour is the home of live music in Sydney

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of bass vibrating through the floor at a gig, or seeing a musical  icon in the flesh. And here in Darling Harbour you’ll find all of the above and more at several world class venues.

Past gigs

Darling Harbour has a banging live music calendar with everyone from local legends, to international superstars. Don’t take our word for it though - check out these epic gigs we’ve hosted in the past:

  • Darren Hayes: one of the greatest singer songwriters to ever come out of Australia and ex-member of Savage Garden played in February 2023.

  • Liam Gallagher: Britain’s most legendary rocker and founder of Oasis played in July 2022.

  • OneRepublic: the songwriting geniuses behind ‘Apologise’ and recent hit ‘I ain’t worried’ played at the International Convention Centre (ICC).

  • Sting: a musician who needs no introduction rocked the Aware Super Theatre in early 2023.

  • Bonnie Raitt: the ten-time Grammy-winning blues singer was once named in the Rolling Stone ‘Greatest Singers Of All Time’ and played in April 2023.

  • Beck: the indie legend was also here in April 2023.

Not a bad list, right? There’s more where that came from - check out the stacked calendar of upcoming live music events in Darling Harbour.

Our venues

Darling Harbour is a harbourfront precinct, home to Sydney’s best restaurants, bars and cafes. But it’s also got many of Sydney’s best live music venues. That includes:

The International Convention Centre Sydney

This expansive venue features three buildings, two theatres, two ballrooms, plus several bars and restaurants. The Darling Harbour Theatre and Pyrmont Theatre host intimate shows from some of Sydney and the world’s biggest names.

The Aware Super Theatre

Sydney’s premier live music venue, The Aware Super Theatre is a 9,000 person capacity theatre with cutting-edge sound and production equipment, two premium lounges, plus several food and beverage kiosks. This has hosted some of the world’s biggest musical talents from Sting to Liam Gallagher.

Tumbalong Park

Tumbalong Park is an expansive green space in the heart of Darling Harbour that features a raised, covered stage. It often hosts free live music, mini festivals and activations, so keep your eye on the calendar!

Intimate venues

If you’re looking for a more intimate show Darling Harbour also delivers. Rock Lily at the Star hosts local and international live talent in a bustling venue - while Home the Venue provides Sydney’s biggest and best night out with big name DJs spinning regularly.
