From 21 Jan - 5 Feb, Darling Square will play host to an incredible original artwork depicting the 12 animals of the zodiac with classic Lunar New Year ornamentation. The work, by East Ryde, Sydney artist Chris Yee, celebrates Chinese iconography while interpreting it through the modern lens of Asian graphic novels.

Artist Chris Yee is an Asian-Australian illustrator, designer and animator who draws his inspiration from comics, wrestling, K-pop and 2000s rap - exploring the hyperreal and grey area within the genres.

"To me Lunar New Year has always been a time of shared celebration and rebirth. With this artwork I wish to share these cultural values to a wider community in Sydney as well as reflect the personality of Darling Harbour - a space of play, dance and full of vivid breathing colour." - Chris Yee
